Frequently Asked Questions

An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM that is built into your smartphone or other mobile devices.

Most modern unlocked smartphones support eSIMs. For example, newer iPhones (XS/11 and later), recent Samsung Galaxy models, Google Pixels, and other 5G-capable devices. Check your phone's tech specs for "eSIM" or "digital SIM" support. Also ensure your device is unlocked (not locked to a specific carrier). If in doubt, contact the manufacturer or your carrier.

No. Valevox is not a mobile network operator or MVNO. We sell prepaid roaming data eSIMs supplied through third-party network partners.
Our eSIMs are designed for mobile data access while travelling. They do not include a local mobile phone number, voice calls, SMS services, emergency calling, or number portability.
Network coverage, speed, availability, roaming access and fair usage limits depend on the relevant network partners in each destination.

Valevox offers flexible data-only travel eSIM plans covering up to 136 countries. Plans vary by validity period and data allowance, allowing you to choose the option that best fits your trip.

Yes, our eSIMs are multi-country plans, so you only need to purchase 1 eSIM for your travel needs.

After purchase, you'll receive a QR code or activation link. On your phone, go to Settings -> Mobile Data (or Cellular) -> Add eSIM (or Add Data Plan). Scan the QR code or enter the code provided. Your travel eSIM will download and install. Finally, select it as your active data plan (usually by toggling it on). It's best to do this before departure or immediately upon arrival.

Yes. We recommend installing your Valevox eSIM before you travel while connected to Wi-Fi.
To avoid using the plan data before you need it, only turn on mobile data and data roaming for the Valevox eSIM when you are ready to use it.

Your Valevox plan starts once the QR code has been scanned and the eSIM has been activated on your mobile device.

Yes. To use your Valevox eSIM, data roaming normally needs to be enabled for the Valevox eSIM profile.
To avoid charges from your usual mobile provider, keep roaming switched off on your main SIM or eSIM unless you intend to use it.

No. Valevox eSIMs are data-only travel eSIMs. They do not include a mobile phone number, voice calls, SMS text messaging, or emergency calling.
You can still use internet-based apps such as WhatsApp, FaceTime, iMessage, Messenger, Teams, Zoom, Google Maps, email, and web browsing using mobile data.

Yes. You can use your Valevox eSIM alongside your existing SIM or eSIM if your device supports dual SIM.
To avoid unexpected roaming charges from your usual mobile provider, make sure mobile data is turned off for your original SIM or eSIM, and that your Valevox travel eSIM is selected as the SIM used for mobile data.
Your original SIM can usually remain active for calls and SMS, while your Valevox eSIM is used for travel data.

Not through the Valevox eSIM, because it is data-only and does not include SMS text messaging.
SMS verification codes may still arrive through your usual SIM or eSIM if it is active and roaming is enabled with your normal mobile provider.

Your Valevox eSIM can be used in the supported destinations listed for your plan. However, Valevox eSIMs are designed for roaming and travel data, not as a replacement for a domestic mobile contract.

Yes. Valevox eSIMs allow tethering and personal hotspot, so you can share your mobile data connection with other devices such as a laptop, tablet, or another phone.
Please remember that any data used by connected devices will come out of your plan's data allowance. High-data activities such as streaming, video calls, large downloads, or software updates may use your data more quickly.

No. Once a Valevox eSIM has been installed or activated on a device, it cannot be transferred to another phone, tablet, or device.
Please make sure you install the eSIM on the device you intend to use for your trip. If you change device or install the eSIM on the wrong device, you may need to purchase a new eSIM plan.

Once your data allowance has been used, the eSIM will stop providing mobile data. You can continue using Wi-Fi where available, or purchase a new Valevox eSIM plan to get more data.

Your Valevox eSIM will connect to one of our provider's available partner networks in the country or location where you are roaming.
The network used may vary depending on your location, coverage, signal strength, device, and network availability. In most cases, your device will automatically select an available network. If you experience connection issues, you may be able to manually select a supported network in your device settings.

Valevox eSIMs can connect to available mobile networks in your destination, including 4G and 5G where supported.
Actual speeds may vary depending on the country, local network coverage, signal strength, reception, network congestion, your device, and the location you are using the service from. For this reason, we cannot guarantee a specific connection speed at all times.

We are not aware of any throttling on Valevox eSIM plans. However, speeds may still vary depending on local network coverage, reception, congestion, your device, and the provider network used in your roaming location.
Your plan remains subject to its stated data allowance, validity period, and destination coverage.

Yes. An eSIM is as secure as a regular SIM card. It is encrypted and built into your device, so it cannot be physically stolen or swapped. Your data plan and settings are managed through the phone. Just install the eSIM profile from a reputable provider and keep your device secure. If needed, you can remove or reset the eSIM profile anytime.

If you're unable to locate the QR code, please reach out to our customer support team, available 24/7, at support@valevox.com. We'll resend the code to you via email.

Refund policies differ by provider. In most cases, once an eSIM has been activated or any data has been used, it is non-refundable, except where required by law. For this reason, we do not offer refunds on eSIM purchases. To avoid unused data, we recommend selecting a plan that closely matches your travel length and data needs.
